We've always heard that organic is suppose to be better, right?  Not in the case of recalled organic Gerber baby food.  The company announced they are voluntarily recalling the contaminated pouches and taking it off store shelves.  Here's what you need to know.

Gerber understands that they have been a trusted name in baby food for over 90 years and want that trust to continue, therefore they are voluntarily recalling two batches that are susceptible to spoiling due to a packaging defect.  My daughter is 22 years old and I remember serving (and tasting) countless jars of Gerber baby food.  That was BEFORE pouches were used, we were just starting to use the juice pouches back then.  So, I can understand a parents concern when they hear that baby food is being recalled.  Here's the specifics.  The recall involves their Organic 2nd Food pouches, specifically the pears, carrots and peas and the carrots, apples and mangoes.  How do you know, look for the best by dates, those affected will have July 12, 13 and 14 of 2016 stamped on them.  The company says you may even notice they are bloated or have a funny taste or odd odor.

What should you do?  Don't use or open them.  Gerber is willing to replace your recalled product.  You simply need to call the  Gerber Parents Resource Center at 1-800-706-0556 for replacement coupons.
