It's an annual event that your family looks forward to, the Easter Egg Hunt at the Lake Superior Zoo.  This year is no different, your whole family is invited to continue or start a new tradition.  It's an Easter Egg-Stravaganza!

This highly anticipated event is open to everyone, $5 for children 3-12, $10 for 13 and older. Members of the Lake Superior Zoological Society are free. (it pays to be a member!)

In 2013, the Lake Superior Zoo began using "eco eggs" It's an egg made from a plant-based plastic that is compostable and sustainable. They are 100% renewable do not contain BPA and are non-toxic, making them better for the environment and better for kids, plus it helps the zoo stay focused with their mission of conservation.  The best part was that the compostable plastic eggs were actually developed and sold by a Minnesota-based company.  This year, they will be part of the prize program!

According to Julie, LSZ's Director of Guest Services, they will they plan to give the eco eggs away this year, one per child while they last as part of their prize program during the zoo-wide egg scavenger hunt.  Your child will make memories that last a lifetime hunting for all kinds of eggs with prizes.  Plus, your family wil have photo opportunity with the infamous Easter Bunny, take a stroll in the Cotton Tail Cotton Candy Walk, show off your creative side in the coloring contest, get your face painted and view special animal enrichments.  Best of all, the resident animals of the zoo will be there to admire. (they love visitors!)
