One of the things that came out of Tuesday nights MLB All Star game was the fantastic news that the American League Batting Title would be named after one of the all-time great Minnesota Twins.

ESPN.com reported that just before the first pitch, MLB commissioner Rob Manfred joined Rod Carew and his family make the announcement.  He also joined the family of Tony Gwynn and announced the National League Batting Title would be named after the late Padres great.

In a year that hasn't produced much good news for Minnesota Twins fans, this is terrific and a well-deserved honor for both players and their fans.
