When you think of the gold standard of beer, you think of Germany.  However, the craft beer craze here in America is teaching Germany a thing or two about variety.  Beer distributers in Germany are beginning to order shipments of craft beer from American breweries to reignite beer consumption.

According to an article in the Washington Post, beer variety has been lacking in Germany, and sales reflect that.  A generation ago, Germans consumed 3 liters of beer a week on average.  Now it's down a third.

Now German breweries are trying to emulate the success of the American craft beers, adding different flavors and hoping to revolutionize the industry.

If you could send them a twelve pack of craft beer, what would you pick?

Personally, I think they would get a kick out of a Leinenkugals sampler, or a New Glarus sampler.
