Adrian Peterson and the Minnesota Vikings officially offered their formal goodbyes on social media Friday night. Peterson shared an audio message thanking fans and the team for his time with the team and all the love he received as a member of the Vikings. The team's social media account replied moments later with a thank you tweet of their own to Peterson.

Adrian has been the one of the most prominent names on the Vikings roster since he was drafted with the #7 pick of the 2007 NFL Draft by the team. After a couple of turbulent years where injury and off the field problems kept him away from the game more often than not, the team and the 32 year old running back decided to part ways this offseason as the Vikings decided not to continue with Peterson. He was signed by the New Orleans Saints as a free agent, and will open the 2017 season against his old team, as the Vikings and Saints play on the first Monday Night Football game of the season.
