5 Things You Might Not Know Are Made From Recycled Plastic
While I was emceeing the Northland Community Wellness Day my table was directly across from the Lake Superior College's Dental Hygiene program and they were handing out toothbrushes. The toothbrushes were made from 100% recycled plastic, like yogurt cups. How cool is that?
That got me thinking of the things I've seen recycled plastic used for in the Northland.

Preserve Toothbrush

Parking Blocks or Curbing
They use to be made out of cement, now you'll find that several are made from recycled plastic. Parking blocks or curbing is found at the top of a parking spot to prevent the car from rolling forward to far. [learn more]

Spoons and other Plasticware
The colorful spoons in the picture above are from Gordy's Warming House. We usually go over there after we eat at Gordy's Hi-Hat and get some ice cream for dessert. I love the spoons and it's nice to know that they've found a way to go green! [learn more]

Composite Decking
You may have noticed decking that isn't made of wood. I have friends that have used composite decking and the downside is that leaves and other nature's elements stain the recycled plastic easily. The upside is that you don't need to stain the deck every year. It looks great, but could be a bit slippery when wet. [learn more]

Outdoor Furniture
There is a local company called Loll Design at 5912 Waseca Street in Duluth that makes outdoor furniture and Adirondack chairs. I have friends that invested in the unique furniture and while they may be a bit on the spendy side, they are durable and look great! [learn more]
