I logged on to my computer this afternoon after coming home from my own hometown mall and found that a shooting had occurred at a suburban shopping mall in Maryland that left at least three dead.  It made me stop and say a prayer, not only that we were safe, but for those families that lost loved ones so senselessly.

According to CNN, the initial 911 call was made reporting gunfire at the mall in Columbia, Maryland about 11:15 AM eastern time.  Upon arriving and entering the mall, police found three bodies.  They suspected one of the bodies belongs to the shooter.

Mall employees told members of the media that the shooting had started on the second-floor at the food court. The body of the person believed to be the shooter was found near a gun and an amount of ammunition.

A tweet was confirmed from the Howard County Police Department that also stated that one of those found dead was suspected to be the shooter.

UPDATE:

While some have speculated about the motive of the shooting, the police department tweeted this:

"Police have NOT confirmed the shooting at #ColumbiaMall was domestic. Do not know ID of suspect and have NO info abt being known to victims"
