The 2018 CMT Music Awards are upon us. The big show airs Wednesday night.

This award show stands out because the nominees are in the running for their music videos, not necessarily the song itself. The awards are also fan-voted, which means office politics doesn't really play a role here.

On top of that, there are a lot of highly anticipated premieres. Show hosts Little Big Town will open the show with their new single Summer Fever while Florida Georgia Line will perform their new song, Simple. Sam Hunt will also make a big return to the stage, singing his latest tune Downtown's Dead.

Country outsiders like Kelly Clarkson and the Backstreet Boys will also take the stage.

It should be a fun show no matter what happens. The big question remains though - who will be taking home the famous belt buckle for their cinematic work throughout the past year? Only time will tell but here's who I think has a good shot.

    Male Video Of The Year

I think this one is Thomas Rhett's to steal for his monster hit Marry Me. It is one of the biggest songs of his career so far and he seems pretty unstoppable these days. For the most part, the rest of the songs in this category are older while Rhett's song is still fresh in our minds. Make some room on your shelf, buddy.

    Female Video Of The Year

I think Carrie will take this one for her collaboration with Ludacris. The Champion is a super inspirational song and video and after the year she's had, it has even more meaning now. People are excited that she's back. Plus, she almost always seems to win at this show. I don't see her going home empty-handed now.

    Duo Video Of The Year

Florida Georgia Line will probably take this one by a landslide. They are still at the top of their game with the biggest hit of the category and the video for Smooth is funny and different. Brothers Osborne are slowly inching in on their reigning territory, but I think FGL will edge them out just a bit here.

    Group Video Of The Year

Midland is one of the biggest new acts to break through the country world and to be honest, they are a lot of fun. Their throwback style and country flair sets them apart here. Old Dominion and LANCO could make a surprise win but Midland is too charming in Make A Little to lose.

    Breakthrough Video Of The Year

All artists in this category have had an amazing year no doubt. Russell Dickerson's video has an extra special meaning though - Yours was shot by his wife years ago, before he was famous. She shot it herself and put it all together. People are a sucker for their love story and who wouldn't want him to win for a story like that?

    Collaborative Video Of The Year

How do you say no to Justin Timberlake AND Chris Stapleton and their duet of Say Something? You don't. Enough said.

    CMT Performance Of The Year

I'd love to see I Won't Back Down win here since it has a very special meaning. However, I think The Fighter will be the victorious one. Carrie & Keith performed this song on the award show last year, slowing the song down and earning rave reviews. They've also won awards and earned multiple nominations for this song so I can't see them losing out on the stage that made the song so famous.

    Video Of The Year

It's hard for me to believe Jason Aldean will go home empty handed after the year he's had and the way he's handled everything with grace. You Make It Easy is certainly deserving on its own accord too. The music video has three parts which almost makes it undeniable.
