Hundreds of racing fans came out today for day one of the Benna Ford Roush Superior Watercross Shootout at Barkers Island Festival Park, despite the intermittent rain showers throughout the morning and mid-afternoon, it was a nice day for racing.

It was also a busy day for the 148th Air National Guard retriever boats with over 40 machines sinking during the race day, the most so far this season in one day. Some attributed this to the racers trying new setups on their sleds for today's race.

All of today's action on the water is to qualify racers for championship Sunday, which will get under way just after 10 am, with single day tickets available at the gate for $15.
